Plastic Surgeon Brisbane, BSc, MBBS, FRACS (Plast)
Getting to know your plastic surgeon
A consultation is the safest place to discuss what is appropriate for your anatomy and health.

Plastic Surgeon Brisbane & Gold Coast
I care for people across cosmetic and reconstructive surgery. Cosmetic procedures aim to enhance appearance, for example breast augmentation or blepharoplasty. Reconstructive surgery helps correct problems caused by birth differences, trauma, or disease, such as breast reconstruction after cancer. I also remove skin cancers, particularly those that appear on the face.
I will take time to understand your goals and any concerns. We will review your medical history, prior surgeries, current medications, allergies, and any referrals or scans you bring. I will examine the area you want to address and talk through suitable options.
I will explain the risks, likely recovery, and also what plastic surgery cannot achieve. You will have space to ask questions. My aim is to help you understand your choices so you can make an informed decision that feels right for you.
My approach is honest and patient centred. Plastic surgery is a significant personal decision and you should never feel rushed. If I believe surgery is not appropriate for you, I will tell you clearly and explain why. Where helpful, I may suggest non-surgical options or refer you to another specialist. I want you to feel informed and calm about your decision with a clear picture of benefits, risks, limits, and recovery. Outcomes differ between individuals.
I see patients at my rooms in the Mater Private Clinic in Brisbane. I also consult at 109 W Burleigh Rd, Burleigh Waters for our Gold Coast patients. When surgery is indicated, I operate in accredited private hospitals, including Mater Private Hospital, Herston Private Hospital, South Brisbane Day Hospital, Miami Private Hospital and Gold Coast Private Hospital. We will discuss the most suitable location for your care based on the procedure you are considering.
Your safety is always my priority. It starts with a careful medical assessment and an informed consent process that helps you understand the procedure, the risks, and the recovery. We will talk about your health history, smoking status, medications, and the practical steps you will need to follow before and after surgery.
Information on our website does not exaggerate benefits or minimise risks. My role is to give you a clear and balanced picture so you can decide what is safest and most appropriate for you.
Breast augmentation Brisbane & Gold Coast FAQs
Breast augmentation questions and planning
Undergoing cosmetic surgery involves medical risks and outcomes that can vary. We’ll discuss these with you so you can make an informed decision

Plastic Surgeon Brisbane & Gold Coast
Breast augmentation can suit healthy adults who are happy to have a general anaesthetic. It is also for people with realistic goals for size, shape, and proportion. In our consultation we will talk about what you hope to change. I will examine your chest wall, skin and tissue characteristics so we can match your goals to what is safe and achievable for your body.
I operate at accredited private hospitals. In Brisbane, this includes South Brisbane Day Hospital, Mater Private Hospital and Herston Private Hospital. On the Gold Coast, I consult at 109 W Burleigh Rd, Burleigh Waters and operate at Miami Private Hospital and Gold Coast Private Hospital. We will choose the option that fits your needs.
All surgery has risks. Problems can include bleeding, infection and scarring. Sensation can change in the nipple or breast. Implants can move, rupture or need revision in the future. The body forms a thin layer of scar tissue around every implant. Sometimes this layer tightens and feels firm. This is called a capsule and it can need treatment.
There is also a rare cancer of the immune system called Breast Implant-Associated Anaplastic Large Cell Lymphoma (BIA ALCL) that has been linked to textured implants. It can show up as swelling, fluid, or a lump around the implant, often years after surgery. We will talk about warning signs and what to do if they appear. I will give you written information to take home.
Most people plan about a week away from desk based work. Gentle walking is fine in the first week. Lifting, upper body strain, and sport are usually avoided for around four weeks. You can expect swelling and tightness early on.
These symptoms typically improve over time with wound care, pain management, and follow-up. You may resume driving once you are no longer taking strong pain medicine, feel physically comfortable, and it is safe to do so based on your healing progress. I will give you clear instructions for garments, wound care and review. Timelines are guides only. Your recovery may be shorter or longer.
For more information, visit our breast augmentation page and dedicated breast augmentation FAQs page.
Many people can breastfeed after breast augmentation, but it is not guaranteed. The chance depends on your natural anatomy, the incision used and where the implant is placed. If breastfeeding now or in the future is important to you, please tell me. We will factor this into your plan and talk through the trade offs. I will be clear about what surgery can and cannot do.
There is no set expiry date. Some people have no issues for many years. Others choose or need revision earlier. Reasons include capsule changes, implant movement, rupture, comfort issues or a change in goals. Regular check ups help us monitor your breasts and your implants. If a concern arises, we will talk through the options in a calm and practical way. You can make a fully informed decision in line with medical advice and your clinical needs.
Costs vary with your surgical plan, the hospital, and time in theatre. Your written quote will outline the surgeon fee, the anaesthetist fee, and hospital charges. It will also list planned garments and follow up care. I will explain what is and is not included so there are no surprises. If rebates apply in your situation, we will discuss them. You will have time to consider everything before you decide.
Breast lift surgery Gold Coast and Brisbane FAQs
Breast lift (mastopexy) questions and suitability
Good surgical planning involves a detailed discussion of scar formation, how healing progresses, and the possible outcomes.

Plastic Surgeon Brisbane & Gold Coast
A breast lift can suit adults who feel their breasts have sagged, lost shape, or the nipple sits lower than they would like. It is usually planned once breastfeeding has finished. In our consultation, we will talk about your goals, medical history, and any future pregnancy plans.
I will examine your skin quality, breast tissue, and chest wall to see what is safe and realistic. A lift can reshape and raise the breast. It does not add volume. If you want more fullness, we can discuss options.
It depends on your tissue and the look you want. A breast lift reshapes and raises the breast and nipple. A breast augmentation adds volume with an implant. Some people choose a combined breast lift with implants to improve shape and fullness.
I will assess your skin, tissue support, and nipple position. We will talk about scars, recovery and the trade offs of each option. If a lift alone will not meet your goal, I will say so and explain why. We will make a plan that fits your body and your preferences.
I consult from Mater Private Clinic in Brisbane and operate at fully accredited private hospitals.
Every surgery carries some level of risk. Common issues can include bleeding, infection, scarring, or slower healing. Some people notice changes in breast or nipple sensation, or asymmetry. In rare cases, there may be problems with blood supply to the nipple.
A breast lift won’t prevent future changes caused by ageing, weight shifts, or pregnancy. In some cases, revision surgery might be needed down the track. We will discuss risks relevant to your health and surgical plan during the consultation, and I will also provide written information outlining potential complications, as required for informed consent.
Most people take 2 weeks off from desk-based work. Gentle walking is encouraged in the first week, but it’s important to avoid heavy lifting and sport for around four weeks. You’ll wear a supportive garment as recommended.
Some people go home the same day, while others stay overnight. This depends on your health and surgical plan. Swelling and tightness are common post-operative experiences and typically improve with time, though the duration may vary depending on the individual.
You can drive once you feel safe and are no longer taking strong pain medication. I’ll see you in the clinic for follow-up and adjust advice based on how you’re healing. These timelines are general, everyone’s recovery is a little different.
Abdominoplasty Gold Coast and Brisbane FAQs
Abdominoplasty questions and recovery
Your recovery plan matters as much as the operation itself.

Plastic Surgeon Brisbane & Gold Coast
Abdominoplasty removes excess skin and fat from the lower abdomen. When needed, I also tighten the underlying abdominal wall. This is to support the core and improve shape, often after pregnancy or weight changes.
It’s important to know this isn’t a weight loss procedure. The scars are placed low on the abdomen and around the belly button, though their exact position and length depend on your body and surgical plan. As with any procedure, results and recovery differ for each person.
Abdominoplasty may be a good option for healthy adults with a stable weight. Not smoking helps reduce surgical risks. During our consultation, we’ll discuss your goals, health history, and any plans for future pregnancy. I’ll assess your skin, fat distribution, and muscle tone to see if this procedure is the right fit, or if another approach would be safer or more appropriate.
I consult from Mater Private Clinic in Brisbane and perform abdominoplasty at accredited private hospitals.
Most people take two to four weeks off from desk-based work. Gentle walking can begin early, but lifting and sport should be avoided for 6 weeks. A supportive garment will be part of your recovery, and I’ll guide you on when and how to use it.
You can drive once you feel safe and are no longer on strong pain medication. I’ll review your progress in the clinic and tailor advice as you heal. Recovery timelines are general, everyone heals at their own pace.
All surgery involves some risk. Common issues include bleeding, infection, scarring, or fluid build-up under the skin, known as a seroma, which may need treatment. You might also experience numbness, slower healing, or some asymmetry.
Though rare, more serious risks include blood clots in the legs or lungs. Some people may need revision surgery later on. We’ll talk through your individual risks in detail during your consultation, and I’ll provide written information for you to review at home.
Abdominoplasty can remove some stretch marks, but only if they fall within the section of skin being removed. Stretch marks above the belly button usually stay. During your examination, we’ll map out what’s likely to be removed so you have a clear idea of what to expect.
Some people find that after pregnancy or weight change, they develop skin or muscle changes they would like assessed. We’ll discuss whether abdominoplasty is appropriate for your needs. I offer abdominoplasty in Brisbane and Gold Coast with hospital-based care and structured follow-up.
Liposuction Gold Coast and Brisbane FAQs
What liposuction can and cannot do
Liposuction can improve contour, but it does not replace healthy lifestyle habits.

Plastic Surgeon Brisbane & Gold Coast
Liposuction is a surgical procedure that removes unwanted fat from targeted areas of the body using a thin tube called a cannula, with suction or power assistance. It’s designed to refine shape, not reduce weight. Common areas treated include the tummy, hips, thighs, back, arms, and under the chin. Your results will depend on factors like skin elasticity and how your body naturally stores fat. We’ll discuss what’s realistic for you during your consultation.
Liposuction may suit healthy adults who are at a stable weight but still have stubborn fat that doesn’t respond to diet and exercise. Good skin elasticity helps with smoother results. If you’re planning a major weight change, pregnancy, or have medical conditions that increase surgical risk, we may adjust timing. I’ll review your goals, health history, and medications in our consultation. If liposuction isn’t the best choice, I’ll explain why and offer alternatives.
I perform liposuction in accredited private hospitals.
Recovery varies based on the areas treated and how much fat is removed. Most people take a few days to a week off desk-based work. Gentle walking is encouraged early on. You’ll wear a compression garment as recommended. Bruising and swelling are common and ease over several weeks. Avoid heavy lifting and sport for around three to four weeks. You can drive once you’re off strong pain medicine and feel safe to do so. I’ll monitor your progress and adjust advice as needed.
Like any surgery, liposuction carries risks. These can include bruising, swelling, temporary numbness, bleeding, infection, scarring, or asymmetry. Some people notice rippling or irregular contours. Fluid can collect under the skin and might need drainage. Rarely, clots can develop in the legs or lungs. We’ll go through your specific risks together, and I’ll give you written information to take home.
Fat cells removed during liposuction do not regenerate, but changes in weight can affect remaining fat cells and body shape. Staying at a stable weight with healthy habits supports long-term results. If your goals change later, we can explore other options together.
Gynaecomastia surgery FAQs
Gynaecomastia questions and treatment options
Safety first, clear information and no pressure to decide.

Plastic Surgeon Brisbane & Gold Coast
Gynaecomastia refers to enlarged breast tissue in males. It may involve firm glandular tissue, excess fat, or a combination of both, and can affect one or both sides. Sometimes it’s linked to hormones, medication, or weight changes. I’ll take a full medical history and examine you.I may request tests or ask your GP to help explore possible causes if needed.
Surgery is an option for adults with persistent gynaecomastia that doesn’t improve with time, weight loss, or a review of medications. You’ll need to be in good health and at a stable weight. Not smoking lowers your risk of complications. Your suitability for surgery will be based on your health, exam findings, and any contributing factors. If surgery isn’t the best option, I’ll explain why and talk through alternatives.
You’ll likely wear a compression vest for a few weeks. Gentle walking starts early, but it’s important to avoid heavy lifting, chest workouts, and contact sport for about four weeks. Bruising and swelling are common early on and typically improve within two to four weeks. You can drive once you feel safe and are no longer taking strong pain medication. I’ll see you in the clinic to monitor your recovery and tailor advice to how you’re healing. Everyone recovers at their own pace.
All surgery carries risk. Common issues include bruising, infection, scarring, or changes in skin or nipple sensation. Fluid or blood may collect under the skin and require treatment. Some people notice asymmetry or contour irregularities. In rare cases, the enlargement can return with weight or hormone changes. Revision surgery is sometimes needed. We’ll go through your individual risks in detail, and I’ll provide written information to take home.
Blepharoplasty FAQs
Blepharoplasty questions and recovery
We’ll discuss what results are realistic for your individual case.

Plastic Surgeon Brisbane & Gold Coast
We often see patients who feel their eyes look heavy or tired, and a blepharoplasty, or eyelid surgery, is designed to address exactly this. This procedure works by removing excess skin and carefully reducing any fat bulges around your eyes.
Blepharoplasty may relieve the sensation of heaviness in the eyelids and can enhance upper eyelid contour in some individuals. However, results vary and cannot be guaranteed. In some cases, if drooping skin is affecting your sight, it can actually help improve your vision.
It’s important to understand that this procedure is not intended to treat fine lines or wrinkles. I will carefully examine your eyelids and the surrounding area during your consultation to explain what is realistic and achievable for your face. As with all procedures, results may naturally vary from person to person.
This procedure may be appropriate for healthy adults who have excess eyelid skin or puffiness that causes heaviness, discomfort, vision problems, or difficulty with makeup. During your consultation, we’ll go over your goals, any eye conditions, dry eye symptoms, contact lens use, and medication history. Prior eye surgeries are important to note. In some cases, I may recommend an assessment with an optometrist or ophthalmologist. I’ll be clear about what the surgery can and cannot achieve.
I perform blepharoplasty in accredited private hospitals.
You should expect some bruising and swelling. This is very common and usually settles over one to two weeks. Many of our patients feel ready to return to desk-based work in about a week, depending entirely on your comfort level. I will give you specific advice on using cold compresses, special eye drops, and sleeping with your head elevated, which helps reduce swelling.
If any stitches are used, we typically remove them just five to seven days after your blepharoplasty. We ask that you avoid heavy exercise and strenuous activity for a full two weeks. Please do not drive until your vision feels completely clear and you have stopped taking any strong pain medication. Keep in mind that recovery timelines are only a guide, as everyone heals differently after a plastic surgery procedure.
As with any plastic surgery procedure, a blepharoplasty does carry certain risks, which we discuss fully with you. Common risks you should be aware of include bleeding, bruising, swelling, infection, and scarring. You may also experience temporary dry or watery eyes, temporary blurred vision, or changes in eyelid sensation.
I will explain your personal risk profile in detail during our consultation and provide you with written information to take home. Your safety is our priority, and my job is to guide you through these possibilities so you can make a balanced, informed decision.
Otoplasty FAQs
Ears that feel more in balance with otoplasty
Ears heal at their own pace. Patience and good aftercare make a difference.

Plastic Surgeon Brisbane & Gold Coast
Otoplasty is a procedure that adjusts the shape and position of the ears, usually to set prominent ears closer to the head or improve their contour. I reshape the cartilage to create a natural-looking fold, with incisions typically hidden behind the ear. The goal is a balanced appearance that fits your face, not to make the ears identical.
Every individual heals differently depending on factors like genetics, health status, and the nature of the procedure. Results cannot be guaranteed, and outcomes vary depending on factors such as your individual anatomy, genetics, and how you heal.
Otoplasty can help both children and adults with concerns about ear prominence, asymmetry, or shape. For children, timing depends on ear development, readiness for surgery, and family preferences. Most are suitable once their ears have nearly reached adult size. During your consultation, I’ll assess your health, medications, and goals. If surgery isn’t the right option, I’ll explain why and suggest alternatives.
I perform otoplasty at accredited private hospitals.
You’ll wear a soft headband or dressing to protect your ears as they heal, usually all day and night for the first week, then just at night for 8 weeks. Walking is encouraged early, but contact sport and heavy activity should be avoided for about four weeks. Some swelling and discomfort are common and usually managed with simple pain relief. I’ll review your healing in the clinic and adjust advice as needed. Timelines are general and vary by person.
All surgery carries risk. Common issues include bleeding, infection, scarring, numbness, or stitches that need early removal. Some people notice minor irregularities or asymmetry. Rarely, the ear may lose its shape slightly over time and require further correction. Keloid scarring is uncommon but possible. I’ll go through your personal risk profile in detail and give you written information to take home.
Skin cancer surgery FAQs
Skin cancer surgery questions and follow-up
Early assessment matters when a spot is changing, bleeding, or not healing.

Plastic Surgeon Brisbane & Gold Coast
I commonly treat the three most frequent types of skin cancer: basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma, and melanoma. Your treatment plan will always depend on several factors, including the cancer type, its size and location, and the result of your biopsy. I will carefully examine the area and review any reports you bring with you.
For melanomas or lesions that are considered higher-risk, we may need to arrange for further testing or plan a wider excision, which is the surgical removal. My primary goal is always to remove the cancer entirely with clear margins, and then plan a careful reconstruction that is best suited to the affected area. Some melanoma patients may also require or be offered a lymph node biopsy of the region. This is a specialised diagnostic and therapeutic surgery that I will discuss if necessary or advised.
When you come for your appointment, please bring your biopsy report and any referral you may have. A complete list of your current medications, any supplements you take, allergies, and any history of taking blood thinners is also very helpful.
It is also useful for us to know about any past skin cancers or treatments related to sun damage. If you happen to have a photo of the lesion before the biopsy, please bring that along. If you do not have all of the paperwork, please do not worry. We can certainly request those important documents from your GP or the pathology provider.
I consult at Mater Private Clinic in Brisbane and at rooms in 109 W Burleigh Rd, Burleigh Waters. Surgery is performed at South Brisbane Day Hospital, Mater Private Hospital and Herston Private Hospital. On the Gold Coast, I operate at Miami Private Hospital and Gold Coast Private Hospital. We will choose the option that fits your needs.
Many of these skin cancer removal procedures are performed as day surgery, meaning you can go home the same day. Depending on your case, we use either a local anaesthetic, where only the area is numbed, or a general anaesthetic. You may feel some discomfort for a few days, but this is usually managed well with simple pain relief medication.
Swelling and bruising will depend on the size and location of the excision. You will be given very clear instructions on how to care for your wound and what activities you need to limit. Stitches are often removed between five and fourteen days after surgery. We will also discuss sun care and what the next steps are once the final pathology report is ready.
All surgery carries some level of risk. Common concerns after skin cancer removal include bleeding, infection, and some degree of scarring. Wound separation or slow healing can sometimes happen, especially if the excision is on the lower legs. Some numbness around the scar area is also quite normal.
The overall risk of the cancer coming back depends on the type of skin cancer and how clear the surgical margins are. Sometimes, after reviewing the pathology, further surgery is necessary. I will go through your personal risks in detail and make sure you have written information to take home.
Hand surgery Brisbane FAQs
Hand surgery questions and common conditions
Hand symptoms can have more than one cause, so an accurate diagnosis matters.

Plastic Surgeon Brisbane & Gold Coast
Most hand pain settles with rest, splints, or gentle therapy. But if symptoms linger or begin to interfere with daily use, it’s important to get them properly assessed. Look out for signs like pain that disturbs your sleep, numbness, difficulty holding onto objects, locking fingers, a new lump, or pain that doesn’t settle after an injury.
Your GP can refer you, or you’re welcome to contact us directly. I’ll review what you’ve already tried and work with you to plan the safest next step.
I manage a range of hand conditions, including carpal tunnel syndrome, trigger finger, De Quervain’s tendinopathy, ganglion cysts, and Dupuytren’s disease. I also treat tendon and nerve injuries, fractures, and post-trauma concerns. Arthritis, particularly at the base of the thumb, is also common. Treatment may involve splints, therapy, injections, or day surgery. We’ll tailor the approach to your lifestyle and goals.
As a hand surgeon in Brisbane and Gold Coast, I consult both at Mater Private Clinic in Brisbane and on the Gold Coast.
Surgery is performed at South Brisbane Day Hospital, Mater Private Hospital and Herston Private Hospital. On the Gold Coast, I operate at Miami Private Hospital and Gold Coast Private Hospital. We will choose the option that fits your needs.
Most of these procedures are done as day surgery, using a local or regional anaesthetic combined with sedation. Some complex cases may need a general anaesthetic or a short hospital stay. We will always confirm the approach that best suits your overall health and the specific procedure you require.
Recovery will depend on your condition and the type of hand surgery. Some people return to light tasks within days, while others need several weeks of focused hand therapy to rebuild strength and movement.
Swelling and stiffness are common early on. I’ll provide clear guidance on wound care, keeping your hand elevated, and doing the right exercises. We’ll shape your recovery plan around your work, driving, and any sport you’d like to get back to.
Every surgery carries risks, and we’ll talk through these together. With hand surgery, common concerns include bleeding, infection, scarring, stiffness, and delayed healing. You may experience numbness or pain, and although rare, injury to nerves or blood vessels can occur.
Some conditions may return over time, and there’s a rare complication called complex regional pain syndrome that can develop after injury or surgery. During your consultation, I’ll explain your individual risk profile clearly and provide detailed written information for you to take home.
Carpal tunnel surgery Brisbane FAQs
Carpal tunnel surgery questions and recovery
If symptoms are progressing, it is worth being assessed sooner rather than later.

Plastic Surgeon Brisbane & Gold Coast
Carpal tunnel syndrome happens when the median nerve is compressed as it passes through a narrow tunnel in the wrist. Decompression surgery works by releasing the tight ligament that forms the roof of that tunnel, taking pressure off the nerve.
The main goal of carpal tunnel decompression surgery is to ease symptoms like numbness, tingling, and the night pain that can interrupt sleep. I’ll carefully examine your hand and review any test results before planning surgery. Recovery and results vary, so we’ll take an approach that suits your situation.
I perform carpal tunnel surgery at several accredited private hospitals. In Brisbane, this includes South Brisbane Day Hospital, Mater Private Hospital and Herston Private Hospital. On the Gold Coast, I consult at 109 W Burleigh Rd and operate at Miami Private Hospital and Gold Coast Private Hospital. We will choose the option that fits your needs.
Most carpal tunnel releases are done as day surgery, using local anaesthetic with light sedation, or occasionally under general anaesthetic. We’ll choose the approach that best suits your health and comfort.
Most people go home on the same day as their carpal tunnel surgery. Elevating your hand helps reduce swelling, and we encourage gentle movement of your fingers and thumb soon after. Light tasks are usually manageable within a few days, but heavier activities and manual work should return in stages.
If stitches are used, they’re generally removed around 10 to 14 days. You can drive once you feel fully safe and are off strong pain medication. I’ll see you in the clinic to review your progress and tailor recovery advice to your work and symptoms.
Carpal tunnel surgery, like any procedure, carries some risks. These may include bruising, infection, and scarring. Temporary tenderness in the palm, known as pillar pain, is fairly common. One may also experience mild stiffness or reduced grip strength during early recovery.
While uncommon, nerve or tendon injury can occur. If the nerve was significantly compressed before surgery, it may take time for symptoms to fully improve. In rare cases, symptoms persist or return, and we would then explore other treatment options.
You’ll receive clear written information to take home, and we’ll talk through your individual risks in detail.
